“It Seemed Good to the
Holy Spirit and to Us…”

Pastors in our city are suffering because they are making every effort to follow God’s leading.  We pray that pastors will remain true to the call of God in our lives.  What an encouraging experience to be linked arm in arm with brothers and sisters across this city determined to stand together!

The enemy is attacking the Church of Lubbock.  Pray Lubbock is determined to help pastors develop prayer protection.  We sense that it will become increasingly dangerous to be a pastor in this city.  Why do we say that?  The unity, which the body of Christ in Lubbock has experienced over the last year, has been unprecedented.  The number and intensity of prayers lifted to the Throne have increased dramatically with Lighthouses of Prayer on the street level and pastors prayer in the strategic level.  In a real sense we are bringing on an attack by our offense to the enemy: fervent, united, effectual prayer!

Pastors need more protection.  We want to enlist a company of intercessors around each pastor in the city.  Imagine if you had a half dozen close friends praying for you daily….  Imagine if you had thirty-one friends committed to fast and pray for you for one day each month….  We feel God is calling us to establish a multi-layered prayer shield around each pastor.

Pastor turnover is a strategic weapon of the enemy.  Controversy around the pastor is very useful in paralyzing the momentum in a church while destroying both leaders and followers.  The Bible offers two types of protection from these attacks of the enemy.

Our first line of defense for protection against spiritual strategic attacks of the enemy is to put on the armor of God  (Ephesians 6:11-17).  Pastors, take a stand for truth, righteousness, the gospel, faith, salvation, and the word of God. If we don’t, we shouldn’t be surprised by the sting of the fiery darts of the enemy.

The second line of defense is a prayer shield.  We are encouraging each pastor of our city to take the following steps as a means of “standing firm:”

ü       Examine yourself under the scrutiny of Ephesians 6:10-18.  Faith, righteousness, truth and other characteristics depicted here do matter if you want to be protected.

ü       Ask God for a trusted friend to serve as facilitating intercessor, who will help you identify other intercessors.

ü       Enlist about a half dozen intercessors who will pray personally for you every day.  These need to be friends in whom you can confide.

ü       Seek 31 others who will commit to fast and pray for you and your ministry one day per month.  On any given day, your shield will have multi-layered strength.

More resources will soon be available from Pray Lubbock.
