Praying for other Congregations

In October 2001, Pray Lubbock began encouraging congregations to pray for one another during their weekend worship services.  We published a suggested guide with congregation names, pastor's names and phone number for each Sunday in our newsletter and online.  That practice has continued through March 2010.  Our list has grown from one or two congregations each week to three congregations most weeks!  Praying for three congregations can be difficult, especially if you want to share background information about those congregations and pray more than a surface blessing.

Beginning April 2010, we are suggesting a different tact.  Still encouraging congregations to pray for one another, we are suggesting that you pray for the congregations in your neighborhood regularly.  Following the neighborhood clusters that we have organized, this means that you will pray for 6-12 congregations, depending on the size of your cluster.  Rather than Pray Lubbock establish a routine, we suggest that you simply take your list from your neighborhood and pray for those congregations, lifting up one congregation each week.  When you reach the bottom of the list you simply start at the top again.  We'll leave it up to the convening pastor if he would like to organize your cluster so that you are praying for the same congregation each week.

Here is a list of Neighborhood Clusters.  Find the group that your congregation is in and start praying this Sunday.  If you have any questions or suggestions, contact steve@praylubbock.com.

If you prefer to continue on with praying for congregations from all over the city, I have included a suggested list for 2010 at the bottom of this page, below the list of Neighborhood clusters.  You are certainly welcome to continue to follow that guide.
